Draft #3

As I neared the towering buildings that dominated the sky I thought to my self,"It may not be the real thing but its close enough". As I got closer my heart started pounding harder. The tall lady in green standing boldly on her pedestal. I thought, I'm in front of a New York look alike hotel in the middle of Vegas.

As I looked at the darkness, it luring me to come in, I heard screaming. I look up in curiosity, thinking someone jumped, but sadly that wasn't the case. There had been a roller coaster that had swirled around the skyscrapers. Wen we finally got to the entrance, I thought there was going to be a burst of gambling, Spectacular shows and lights as bright as times square. Instead behind that door was a hall way. It felt like a normal business building. The only thing Exotic there was a Zumanity sign.

"Don't even think about it" My mom said as she stared at me with one eyebrow up.

"Relax I would never see that show. Besides I'm to young to see it." I sarcastically said as we walked down the hall.

As I strolled across the hall way I look out the window to see a picture perfect view of lady liberty facing the strip. As we got closer I began to hear a familiar sound of gambling. The closer I got the louder it got. My heart was beating so hard that it felt like I would be happy. As I stook my hand out to grab the handle, a shock wave of reality spread through my body thinking "Behind this door is a whole other world". Then I opened the door to something I could hardly describe. From where I stood I could see Central park and allot of slot machines. My mother and father had to decide who would watch me first while the other stayed to gamble for useless causes. As I looked around I saw people checking in to thousand dollars a night rooms, bell hoops everywhere, then In the back of me was the largest picture ever of 1930's New York i had ever. By the time I had finish wandering around It had been decided that my dad was to watch me first. My dad ended up having to watch first, I could tell he was kinda disappointed. He asked me " Where do you want to go first?". I replied by pointing my finger towards what looked like in a bdistance and mini town.

"Wow" was all I could say as I looked in amazement. The one I found was surrounded by high walls with beautiful paintings inside. There was a special beam of light that made it look majestic. You could smell the aroma of pizza walking down the pebble road with rows of town houses with street names like wall street, Oh ya, Wall street was a Giant slot machine! We went to the other side to see something I definitely did not expect. There was a giant ESPN station with a whole bunch of couch potatoes on red couches that looked like movie couches for Bill Gates. There was a giant movie theatre size T.V. with three exceptionally large T.V.s beside it. It was like a movie theatre only showing sports.

We were waiting for my mom in central park. Next to the bridge, Which the lake under it was dried. There was a mammoth of a size slot machine and of course my dad leaves me to play the slot machine. As soon as my mom came back I told her about the mini suburbs and the first words that came out of her mouth was, "OMB". Which is oh my Buddha We just walked around town with Starbucks in our hand. Not trying to look like tourist.

When we got back it was time to leave, which sucked and i moaned, " Ahh........" all the way to the elevator. We walked down the same Zumanity hall when I thought," Schnitzel, I forgot to take a picture!". I ran outside and snapped a picture, but it was blurry so I never got a picture sadly. As we left I waved good by to Vegas and said hello to a very long ride to San Diego

The Little Apple in Vegas

As I neared the towering buildings that dominated the sky I thought to my self,"It may not be the real thing but its close enough". As I got closer my heart started pounding harder. I could almost smell and feel the New England harbors. The tall lady in green standing boldly on her pedestal. As I approached the buildings, They were starting to block out the sun then... I thought,There I was. In front of a New York look alike hotel in the middle of Vegas with the Nevada dessert pounding me.

As I looked at the darkness luring me to come in, I heard screaming. I look up in curiosity, thinking someone jumped, but luckily that wasn't the case. There had been a roller coaster that had swirled around the skyscrapers. I thought there was going to be a burst of gambling, Spectacular shows and lights as bright as times square. As I strolled across the hall way I look out the window to see a picture perfect view of lady liberty facing the strip. As we got closer I began to hear a familiar sound of gambling. The closer I got the louder it got. My heart was beating so hard that it felt like I would vomit it out. As I stoke my hand out to grab the handle, a shock wave of reality spread through my body thinking "Behind this door is a whole other world". Then I opened the door.

I opened the door to something I could hardly describe. It looked like a mini New York New York suburb. By the time I had finish pandering around It had been decided that my dad was to watch me first.

"Where do you want to go first?" he asked grouchy. I simply replied by pointing at a tiny town in the distance. I couldn't see the details until we got there. It turned out to be a mini new york suburb, with neon signs on roofs and a stone road. We walked to the heart of the town, which was Starbucks. The houses were actually stores and the detail in each building was extremely beautiful. Most of the building were two to three story's tall. Every building seemed to have a unique touch to it. When I was looking around I found a secret area.It looked like a french or Italian cafe.

"Do you think theres an observatory on the Empire State Building"? I asked with a sound of hopefulness will squinting my eyes.

"Lets go find out" he said will walking towards the front desk. We asked but sadly there was none so instead we went to the arcade called Carny island. As I walked the stairs with anticipation I noticed that it was quit. Really quiet. I had noticed that no one had walked to Carny Island.

"Its quiet,...to quiet". I said trying to sound like some secret spy. When I got there I expected to see a whole bunch of people but instead it was quit and lonely. We walked past the roller coaster that coast around $15. It was as if I was the last person on earth. We walked past a couple of people until " hold my keys", my dad said. Please don't embarrass me I kept saying in my mind. Then all the sudden he started break dancing and all I could do was drop my jaw in amazement. A couple other people were watching while he started spinning. As soon as he got up I started walking way.

We went back down to the bridge to wait for my mom. And there we saw a mammoth of a a machine, It was probably tall because the empire state building was on top of it. Immediately my dad went for it since it was right next to the bridge. I would of looked into the water below if there was water. there was only hundred of coins where the water had once been. When my mom came we went back to the town.

"Steki" was all she could say, steki means beautiful in Japanese. We just drank Starbucks sitting down trying not to look like tourist.

When we got back it was time to leave sadly.

"Do we have to go back to boring old San Diego" I complained as We walked down the same hall way with Zumanity. I got back in the car and got prepared for a long trip back to S.D.

Hot Spots

Before

At first the buildings were small , peering through my "Super motel 8" room, but as I got closer they got bigger and Bigger and Bigger, to the point I had to look straight up to see the building. Then I thought to my self to, "I'm in Vegas, Sin city".

After

As I neared the towering buildings that dominated the sky I thought to my self,"It may not be the real thing but its close enough". As I got closer my heart started pounding harder. Flash Back

Flash backs are... well the name tells you what it is already but I chose not to use it on my memoir peice simply because I thought it wouldn't fit in.

Diffrent leads

Astonishing Questions: There are over a hundred hotels in Vegas, But I chose a very special one.

Spoken Words:"Look there it is", My father said as we drove to the big buildings that blocked the skyline.

Setting the Mood: As I got out of the car, the heat from the Nevada dessert pounded me with all its force, then as I looked straight I saw a very large shadow in the shape of buildings.

Adding dialogue with gesture

When you Add dialogue with gesture, You and a verb to show what your doing will saying thing.

Instead of writing, "I hate you"! he said.

It could be, "I hate you"! he yelled as he stopped his feet, throwing his hands wildly in the air as if he were a monkey panicking.

Interior Monologue

This is a technique where the write uses italics instead of quotation marks to show thoughts that the character is thinking such as...

Ex: Whoa is me or Why bother

Rough Draft # 1

At first the buildings were small , peering through my "Super motel 8" room, but as I got closer they got bigger and Bigger and Bigger, to the point I had to look straight up to see the building. Then I thought to my self to, "I'm in Vegas, Sin city".

As I looked through the dark door waiting for my parents to come out the car. "There it is, New York, New York, Hotel and Casino". We were parked in the garage of the hotel, but could still here the faint sound of the casino through the door. As I walked down the hall way I caught by the corner of my eye, a sign that said Zumanity. I thought to myself," I bet I'm to young to go to that show" (I turned out to be right). I could tell the anticipation on my parents face to gamble. It felt like I was walking I'm slow motion. I could feel my heart betting," Don Don, Don, Don". As the sound got louder so did my heart beats.

Then we were inside and all I could say was "Wow". Since I was to young to gamble or even touch the machine, I had to walk on this little red path that cut the casino in half. Since I was to young to gamble my dad and mom took turns watching me. My dad ended up having to watch first, I could tell he was kinda disappointed. He asked me " Where do you want to go first?". I replied by pointing my finger towards what looked like in a distance and mini town. I squinted my eyes closer to see the area more, but there was a lot of people in the way. When we got closer it turned out to be a mini New York City suburb. The townhouses were actually store like, Starbucks, Cold Stone. The detail in the buildings were magnificent! The townhouses were two story's with cracks and wore down walls. And if you look closely at and an ally you could find a eating area that looked like french or Italian cafe. The one I found was surrounded by high walls with beautiful paintings inside. There was a special beam of light that made it look majestic. You could smell the aroma of pizza walking down the pebble road with rows of town houses with street names like wall street, Oh did I mention wall street is a giant slot machine! All I could say was," Oh my Buddha". When we went around the other side to a ESPN station there was ALLOT of T.V.s that were stacked rising to about 20 or so ft. There were rows of couches that looked like they were for couch potato's. It was like a movie theater only showing sports.

After seeing the beautiful town we decided to see a greater view of the city by seeing the observation deck on the Empire State Building. When we went there it turned out there was none (even though the real one does). Since the arcade was right in front of us I asked my dad if we can go ( the arcade is suppose to be like ConeyIsland) but when we got up there, the first thing I thought was " Its quiet... To quiet". there was no one in the arcade! So we were walking around when my dad broke out and says, " Hold my keys" I was thinking, " don't embarrass me please". My dad didn't embarrass me alot, He just broke dance in front of a couple of people. Will they slapped and cheered, My jaw was dropped in amazement, thinking" how can some one his age do that, but not me?" . He was spinning on his back really fast and when he got up I speed walked away. I ended up at the coaster, Were you had to pay almost 20$ just to get on!

When we went back down stairs, we were waiting for my mom in central park. Next to the bridge, Which the lake under it was dried, Was a mammoth of a size slot machine and of course my dad leaves me to play the slot machine. As soon as my mom came back I told her about the mini suburbs and the first words that came out of her mouth was, " Steki" which is beautiful in Japanese. We just walked around town with Starbucks in our hand. Not trying to look like tourist.

When we got back it was time to leave, which sucked and i moaned, " Ahh........" all the way to the elevator.
